NARA in local language "Hindko" means spring/flowing water. Before the partition of India and Pakistan the Hindu community of the area had constructed bathing places at this spot. Earlier there were 3 or 4 swimming pools but later only two swimming pools for men and one for women survived. The pool for ladies was covered by a roof whereas the pools for men were open/without any roofs. There were small bathrooms for men called "Chuliarian" which had walls and roof. Some years back a NGO from Germany constructed a water supply scheme at this spot as part of its "Model village programme" and installed water pumps and pipes which took water from Nara to a overhead tank situated right next to the Nawanshehr football ground. There are natural water springs at this spot thus the name "NARA".
